      • Okay, there is a little more to the story.

I worked a couple summers at my college instead of going home. Once, I got asked to do a bit of landscaping at a professor‘s house. While tidying his hedges, I managed to catch a finger a little bit in the trimmer. So I knocked on the door to see if I might get a bandage. The professor’s teenage-or-pre-teen daughter answered the knock, and fetched a bandage.

The professor was Robert Thurman, a specialist in Buddhism who named all of his children after significant Buddhist characters or principles; the bandage fetcher was his daughter, Uma.
